How to Beware from Internet Phishing???

What is Internet phishing 

Internet Phishing is carried out via email, Skype, social media or by phishing sites that are replicas of familiar websites. For instance, a hacker may send you an email that looks like it's from a known your organization/bank employee so that you will give them your personal information such as user id, password, credit card information and like.

Another term spear phishing is also used for it that means the fraudulent practice of sending emails ostensibly from a known or trusted sender in order to induce targeted individuals to reveal confidential information.

Phishing emails or sites might ask for:
  • Usernames and passwords, including requesting for password changes 
  • Credit card details 
  • Bank account information 
  • PINs (Personal Identification Numbers) 
  • CVV number [three digit number written at the back of your card]
  • Other personal/ official details

  • It may contain links or attachments asking you to click on certain links such as those of SharePoint or “open folder”. 
  • Generally asks you to take an urgent action or refers to a previous communication 
  • Request personal or sensitive information such as Card number, password or credit card details 
  • May ask to verify your organization's password or domain account 
  • May be giving a threat or promises a reward 
  • Use “masked” links that looks like a trusted website address but take you somewhere else when you click on it. Beware from these fake and phishing emails.
  • Website addresses that are similar to, but not the same as the original link, www.twiter.com Vs www.twitter.com. Y

Protect yourself from phishing attack and do phishing test

  • Keep your computer and mobile protected with updated Anti-virus softwares.
  • Beware of links in emails that ask for personal information even emails from known internal sources. 
  • ou may get an email from an account similar to facebook that your account has been locked and fill the attached application form to unlock it otherwise it will be permanently blocked. Scan these fake emails & web addresses carefully. 
  • Always be aware and validate with the sender because above actions can cause losses for you. 
  • Always ensure to enter your email credentials to only in URLs that have authentic domain names. 
  • Be aware of pop-ups asking for personal information / password information. 
  • Never share your personal details like username, password or financial information, over electronic channels (Skype, Whatsapp or email) even if you are close with the recipient, check with the sender personally. 
  • If you suspect that you may have been conned or if you are unsure – please change your password immediately.
